Celebrating English Wine Week!
You may have heard that English wines have been coming on leaps and bounds in the last 10 years.
There was a bumper crop in 2018 and the word is....you heard it here first, that the quality is extraordinary so here's your chance to see for yourself just what England winemakers have to offer!
England shares a similar climate and the same chalky soils as the Champagne region. Again and againEnglish wineshave beaten famous Champagne houses in expert blind tastings, particularly the likes of Ridgeview, Nyetimber, Langham and Chapel Down – to name just a few of the 500 (and growing) number of vineyards we have!
We’ll be tasting a selection of styles from Chardonnay and Pinot Noir to the more unusual English varieties Bacchus and Dornfelder…and of course some fabulous fizz which is what has really put England on the wine map!
We will also conduct a blind tasting between a top English sparkling wine and a Champagne. Can you tell the difference? Which one will you prefer?
Great fun as well as fascinating, this is our first ever 'All England tasting' reflecting the growing importance of these wines.
