Rhone Valley Masterclass with Linda Field
Following the success of our Rhone Valley Masterclasses in 2018, we are delighted Linda is able to join us again at East London Wine School to give us the opportunity to learn more about this region and taste some great wines.
Linda Field, a Certified WSET® Educator, now lives in the Rhone Valley (not jealous at all ☹) where she runs the wine school, Auberge du Vin.
The Rhone Valley is one of the most historic regions for wine production, with evidence of winemaking going back over 2500 years! Safe to say, they know a thing or two about making wine. It is the second largest wine production area in France, and the first to have an Appellation Controlée regulation to guarantee to quality of wines produced in the region!
The evening will cover an overview of the different appellations of the Rhone Valley, from Cote Rotie and Hermitage in the north to the Luberon Valley in the south, and an explanation of the different styles of wine produced. You will taste at least six different wines, including a delicious white from St Peray (rarely seen in the UK), a rosé from the famous and delicious Tavel appellation and several different top red wines from the Cotes du Rhone which offer quality and value. Linda will share her findings about current winemaking practices, marketing and tourism and bring you right up to date with this dynamic and exciting wine region.
